Larochette/Fels/Fiels

The name of Larochette Castle, or Burg Fels in German, derives from its location on a sandstone promontory above the small town of Larochette and means ‘rock’.

It was presumably built in the 12th century and in the 14th century, 5 noble families inhabited the site, every one of them in their own buildings.

Decorations at Crèhange Manor/the House of Crèhange or Kriechingen Family, built about 1350 – one of the two visitable buildings.

The new church, dedicated to Saint Donatus, was built between 1860 and 1863.

Larochette is also a place, often visited by Victor Hugo, such as Vianden and Esch-sur-Sûre.
